Lisa Miriam Taylor is an Oxfordshire artist who combines fine drawing and other media to create highly textured pieces. She originally trained as a teacher, studying ceramics as her main subject. She began quiltmaking in the early 1980s and founded the still active Ridgeway Quilters. She first exhibited at the Vale and Downland Museum with them, and was placed third in a national championship in 1986. It was through quilting that her passion for texture really developed. Inspired by the landscapes of America and of the Berkshire downs in particular, she now brings together the small details and the large panoramas of the natural world. This mix offers opportunities for experiment with scale, sometimes with surprising results.

Lisa is also a development worker and a counsellor, and her art gives her a balanced perspective in a life of close involvement with people. She is now training to be a Gestalt psychotherapist, and has a practice in Wantage and at her home.
